The people

Team

Four people run reportsia from Swansea: a producer, a camera operator, an editor and a studio technician, each responsible for one stage of the work.

Who you work with

The crew behind each commission

Each commission is handled by the same small group, so the person who takes your enquiry knows the story when the crew arrives. Here are the four people you are likely to speak with.

How we work

The principles behind every shoot and edit

News video leaves little room for second attempts. A wrong caption, a late file or a one-sided cut can cost a broadcaster more than the commission is worth. For that reason three principles guide how we plan, film and deliver our work.

  1. Accuracy

Every name, place and quotation is checked before a package leaves the edit suite. Callum notes who was filmed and where, Priya matches captions to those notes, and Rhian reads the final cut against the facts supplied. If something cannot be confirmed, we tell you so plainly instead of guessing.

  2. Speed

A broadcaster's slot does not move, so our planning works backwards from it. Crews carry kit packed and tested, footage is logged as it arrives, and files go out in batches rather than at the end. Speed here means being organised early, not rushing the edit at the last minute.

  3. Fairness

We film what is there and cut it so that the story stays true to the scene. Interviewees are given the same courtesy whatever their view, and we do not edit to change what someone meant. Your editor receives the full context, so your own judgement stays in your hands.

The crew arrived knowing the story and the format we needed. Footage came through in batches that our editor could use straight away, and the captions matched what was filmed.
